2011 Honda CR-V

2011 Honda CR-V

2011 Honda CR-V

The 2011 Honda CR-V ranks 2 out of 23 Affordable Compact SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 96 published reviews and test drives of the Honda CR-V, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

The Honda CR-V is ranked at the top among small SUVs for a good reason: It’s one of the most practical family SUVs on the market. "It's fun, cute and practical, and it's a bargain,” says Cars.com. “What more can a mama ask for?"

The CR-V is a Renaissance man -- or woman -- of the automotive industry. It gets good gas mileage, has comfortable seating, plenty of interior cubbies and a roomy trunk. “As practical as a backpack, this benchmark crossover is an easy, stylish one-size-fits-most car choice," says Kelley Blue Book. The CR-V isn’t the fastest or most stylish small SUV, and its fuel economy ratings aren’t the highest in the class, but parents on the go will find it hard to turn down this practical vehicle because it does a little bit of everything.

The Honda CR-V can accomplish so much that it's won several awards. It is our Best Affordable Compact SUV for Families, and one of Kelley Blue Book's Best Resale Value winners. But despite its good reputation, the CR-V won’t satisfy all shoppers. It’s not super fast, doesn’t have a third row and gets a bit expensive once you add features like Bluetooth and USB integration. Plus, it definitely isn’t a luxury car. "The compact SUV field is crowded these days, with nearly every automaker offering something,” explains Cars.com. “If you only have eyes for the luxury makes, the CR-V isn't for you. Otherwise, it's something you should consider." Shoppers seeking a practical SUV that’s well equipped for daily life may not need to look any further.

2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible ISR

An enduring testament of the English automobile manufacturers prominence in the elite supercar arena and a celebration of world rally champion Juha Kankkunen’s world ice speed record in a Bentley Continental Supersports convertible, the Continental Supersports Convertible ISR is the most avant-garde and powerful Bentley convertible by far.

The ‘Ice Speed Record’ (ISR) Continental Supersports is an exceptional sports car that truly resonates Bentley’s characteristic ethos. With excellence in performance, handle dynamics, and trendy flamboyance, the Supersports Continental Convertible ISR doesn’t, however, compromise class, handcrafted design and passenger comfort.

Launched at the 2011 Geneva Show, the new convertible has sent the entire auto world abuzz—glorified no doubt because of the ‘Ice Speed Record’ convertible’s ability to sprint from 50-75 (80-120 km/h) in merely 2.5 seconds under real world conditions. The new convertible is off to a promising start, starting from under the hood: a 6-liter, W12 turbo-charged engine capable of churning 640 PS (471 kW / 631 bhp) combined with a six-speed Quickshift automatic sports car transmission propels the Continental Supersports Convertible ISR from 0-60 mph within 3.8 s (0-100 km/h within 4 s) and achieves 100 mph from a standing start in just 9.5 s (0-160 km/h within 9.4 s)

.

The ‘Ice Speed Record’ model doesn’t fail to impress with its interior features as well: a carbon fiber with red weave high-gloss finishing and the most exquisite leather and Alcantara cabin components. The Supersports Continental Convertible ISR, which comes in three colors, has an estimated priced of £189,300 ($ 309,022 USD) and available at authorized Bentley automobile dealerships.

2011 Bentley Continental Supersport Convertible World Ice Speed Record

The world ice speed record was shattered on 15 February 2011 in Oulu, Finland by rally champion Juha Kankkunen. Achieving a top speed of 205.48 mph, Kankkunen broke his previous world record of 199.83 mph set in 2007 at the same location.

Kankkunen shattered the previous world record that he also set, in a 12 cylinder, 6 liter Continental Supersport Convertible running on E85 bio-ethanol. The fuel selection was largely due to Bentley’s commitment for a cleaner environment and sustainable fuel sources.

Juha Kankkunen managed to overcome the perilous endeavor with the help of Bentley engineers and his own experienced team. Kankunnen and the team faced temperatures of minus 30 degrees, sudden snow blizzards and dangerous crosswinds to set the new world record on a 16.5 km track sitting on 70 centimeters of sea ice.

Only minimum modifications were made on the Continental Supersport Convertible. The team added a rear bumper mounted parachute and a fully welded heavy duty safety roll-cage to ensure the safety of Kankkunen in emergency situations. The run was done on Pirelli SottoZero II 275/40R20 winter tires.

Bentley will only offer a limited edition of 100 units of this extreme model Continental. The car will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show on the 1st of March.

Sport Sedan Cars

A sports sedan or a sports saloon is a descriptive term applied to a sedan automobile that is designed to look and feel "sporty", offering the motorist more connection with the driving experience, while providing the comfort and amenities expected of a luxury sedan. A wider definition that includes related coupé, convertibles, crossovers is known as sport luxury. Most vehicles in this category overlap with the compact executive car and executive car classifications, while the sporty small family sedans are called sport compacts (mostly used in North America).
The term was originally introduced in the 1930s and applied to lighter, more streamlined closed body coachwork fitted by car makers., for example, had Sports Saloon versions of several of their models.
It was later applied by manufacturers to special versions of their vehicles that allowed them to enter production cars in motor races with extra modifications not normally permitted by the regulations.[citation needed] Such regulations required cars to be homologated typically by selling them in minimum numbers to the public. Some of the earlier examples were the Alfa Romeo 1900, Triumph Dolomite and Lotus Cortina.
Traditionally sports sedans have a manual transmission and tachometer in order to provide that "sports look and feel" and are rear wheel drive, have good handling characteristics, and adequate power. Because of the US move to automatic transmission and front wheel drive these types are now also to be found in the sport sedan category. Recent sport sedans such as the latest iterations of the BMW M5 and BMW M3 had implemented semi-automatic transmissions.
The term "sport sedan" is not an absolute term, rather it is relative.
In North America, most luxury import sedans are often considered "sport sedans" because of their higher performance, handling, and expensive available amenities relative to that of mass market cars. There is some price overlapping, for instance as an entry-level BMW 328i has a similar (manufacturer's) suggested retail price to a Toyota Camry XLE V6.
The term "sport sedan" also came into being, when comparing luxury import sedans (i.e. BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz), which were smaller cars popular with young buyers that focused on performance and handling, to domestic luxury marques such as Cadillac and Lincoln, for older customers and which emphasized size and comfort. In the 1980s and 1990s, the change in consumer demographics towards smaller and sportier luxury cars, along with Japanese luxury brands, led to a decline in the prestige of domestic luxury marques, whose chief offerings were the Cadillac DeVille and Lincoln Town Car. However, since the 2000s, Cadillac and Lincoln have begun producing competitive models such as the Cadillac CTS and Lincoln LS. Buick was retained as General Motors's traditional luxury brand and emphasized comfort and amenities instead of driving experience

Most Fuel Efficient Cars: Top 10 List 2011-2012

At one time in the summer of 2008, gas prices average around $4.50/gallon in the U.S. After the summer of 2008, gas prices plummeted down to $2.00/gallon and people were beginning to enjoy going out more. Fastest Cars In The World: Top 10 List 2011-2012

World's Fastest Cars

While most of us can only dream of owning the fastest car in the world, some will do whatever it takes to possess the most powerful speed. So, how fast are the fastest cars in the world?

Here are the 10 fastest cars available on the market (production models, as opposed to concept cars) measured by tested top speed (theoretical speeds do not count).

1. Bugatti Veyron: 267 mph, 0-60 in 2.5 secs. Aluminum, Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16 Engine with 1200 hp, base price is $1,700,000. The Super Sport version is $2,400,000. The speed was tested again on July 10, 2010 with the new 2010 Super Sport Version: the Bugatti Veyron once again claims the title of the fastest car in the world at 267 mph.

2. Koenigsegg Agera R: 260 mph, 0-60 in 2.8 secs. 5.0-liter V8 Engine with twin turbo’s, housing 1099 hp. Base price is $1,600,000. If you're into snow sports, the Agera R can be fitted with a Ski Box as well as winter tires, not that I would take one on a ski trip or anything like that. While the Agera R has a massive theoretical top speed, the current tested top speed is 260 mph. Expect this snow car to be the Bugatti's arch enemy for the next 5 years.

3. SSC Ultimate Aero: 257 mph, 0-60 in 2.7 secs. Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with 1183 hp, base price is $654,400. Tested in March 2007 by Guinness World Records, The SSC Ultimate Aero was the fastest car in the world from March 2007 to July 2010. On March 2011, the Koenigsegg Agera R also surpassed it, forcing this American made car to the #3 spot.
