Volvo XC90 Coupe Concept

Yet another concept from Volvo.

This time it claims to be a preview of the next XC90. Except it has only 2 doors and sits really low for an SUV. Plus there are no bumpers etc...
So basically, this is just a pure concept.
I predict the production XC90 won't look 1/2 has good as this.
Once it is jacked up with 2 more doors and a much taller roof.

Volvo is in desperate need of brand new models. No matter how successful the new XV90 will be, it won't be a volume car. As it is still an expensive upscale SUV.

They need to stop the teasing and send us over the cool looking V40. And advertise the hell out of it.

Audi is showing off some new in car technology at CES this week.
And doing so, they are using the interior of the next TT (!!!)

So we are getting a really good idea of the design. Which seems really nice indeed.

2014 VW Passat Sport price

It will start at $27 295.
Automatic is a $1200 option.

It includes mostly black trims, over the SE model. As well as 19 inch wheels and sport seats.

But it also costs about $3000 more than the SE. Not sure yet if options are available or not.
The good is that you can get a manual. (Even though it is just a 5 speed).

Mercedes GLA45 AMG

With 360HP from 2.0 Liter, this is the most powerful production 4 cylinder engine in the world.
Quite amazing.
(So far, the CLA AMG with the same engine has been getting mostly great reviews.)

After sitting in both the CLA and GLA, I have to say I like the GLA much better. They do share the same platform and a lot of their interior. But the GLA did feel more solid (Maybe in part due to the framed windows).
And it is much roomier. With real back seats. Plus the hatchback is much more convenient.

Not sure how much of a premium they will charge over the sedan, but I predict a big hit for Mercedes with the GLA in general. AMG or not.

Nissan's new London Taxi

Amazing and scary.
After New York's "Taxi of tomorrow", Nisan's weird goal seems to be taking over taxi fleets around the globe.
And using the same NV200 everywhere.

This looks like a caricature of a London Taxi, not the real thing. An NV200 with a big chrome grille.
It will be powered by a small 1.6 Liter gas engine (No diesel???)

Maybe it will be more reliable than the previous model which was actually built by a company owned Chinese Geely!
15 of these had engine fire in 2008.
Many had steering defects etc...

A Small Nissan van could be seen as an improvement, I guess...

2014 Peugeot 308 SW

 Nobody seems to be calling a wagon a wagon anymore. So SW is code for "wagon" for Peugeot.

It will compete in Europe with wagon versions of the Focus, Astra, Golf (AKA Jetta Sportwagen here) etc...
And it looks like the most conservative of them all. (Even the new Golf seems a bit more modern.)

This is what the "regular" hatchback model looks like . Sort of a "French Golf".

2015 Mini 4 door

Not sure about the actual name yet, but this is the 4 door version of the Mini Coupe.
Mini has already said this will be their most popular model.

Which does make sense, since 4 doors are always more popular than 2 .

I guess we'll be seeing plenty of these around soon....
