Fiat Ottimo/Viaggio hatch

This is basically a Dodge Dart hatchback.
Looking good too.

This Fiat version is, so far, for China only.
You would think that with the success of cars like the Mazda 3 or the Focus, Dodge would sell this over here.

The Dart needs some help.

L.A Auto Show: Battle of the doors. CLA vs A3

There will be plenty of competition next year between these 2 small german sedan: The Mercedes CLS and Audi A3.

I sat in both of them today.

-None of them are very roomy. Both of them have very limited legroom in the back.
-The Audi does look more conservative. Like more muscular version of the 1st A4.
-The Mercedes is more modern inside too.

So basically, it will be a matter of choice.

But none of them feel as heavy and solid as other models of their respective brands.
Close the doors of the A3 and it is fine. Until you do the same with an A4.
The A4 does sound amazing . Like closing a bank safe.

The A3 and CLA are now "just another car".
They just don't feel that special.

At a starting price of $30 000, they don't really offer what make these expensive brands so special...

L.A Auto Show: 2014 VW Passat Sport

Actually not a bad looking car.
The best part is the new interior trim. Which is much better than the super cheap looking fake metal from the base models.
And also much nicer than the fake looking wood trim on the SEL.

This should be standard.

L.A Auto Show: 2014 Toyota Corolla.

Yes, I just have that one picture of the all new Corolla.
To me, it sums up the whole thing. The car feels really cheap inside. The doors sound tiny.

And look at that door panel. Hard and cheap looking plastics all over. Not even put together great.
And the switches literally look like they are from 1985.

Amazing...

L.A Auto Show: 2014 Hyundai Elantra

Among the few changes to Elantra for the new years are really nice looking rear lights.
And, just a nice chrome line at the bottom of the windows.
Just little details that make a good looking car even better.

Good job.

L.A Auto Show: Kia K900

I have to say I was very impressed by the big Kia in person.
It does look and feel like an expensive car. (even though I am not sure that the black and white interior of the car at the show was the best choice to showcase the car)

I don't see it as a direct competition to the S Class or 7 series, like some people mentioned.
It is a big car, but its wheelbase as about 5 inches less than the new S Class.
But, it is much larger than the E Class. And more luxurious.

At a starting price of about $50 000 for the 311HP V6. (A loaded V8 model should be around $65 000), it is actually only about $4000 more than the base E Class. And about $45 000 less than the S Class!
At half the price it starts looking like a bargain.

And, unlike its cousin the Hyundai Equus, it doesn't look like it is trying too hard to be a luxury car.
(Thanks to the great Peter Schreyer's design).
It actually look more like a European car.

Of course, I have been comparing a Mercedes to a Kia. Which is blasphemy for most.
But I don't think Mercedes cars are what they used to be. And people who buy them keep buying them. Without ever considering anything else anyway.
This, it seems, is for someone who just wants a good looking, big, super luxurious sedan. Doesn't care to impress the neighbors with a name. (The car itself, will do that)

By the way, this is what Lincoln should be doing!!!!
What the hell? How come they can't make a car like this???
